Al Arabiya – Iranian-British singer and composer Sami Yousef visited on Thursday the Syrian al-Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan where he invited children to sing along with him as a gesture of support.
“This is an incredible ordeal for you and your families and I don’t want you to lose faith that you will go back home soon, so stay strong and take care of your children because this is the future of Syria,” Relief Web quoted Yusuf as saying to refugees he met during his one-day visit to the camp.
Yusuf, named “Islam’s biggest rock star” by Time magazine, stopped at World Food Program’s distribution centers inside the camp where he met refugee men and women collecting their food rations.
Children at schools run by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) met Yusuf, who entertained them by singing some of his famous songs. The children repeated after him some of the lyrics.
