The victims were reportedly part of an Iranian band, The Yellow Dogs, which left the totalitarian state for Brooklyn. Gunman Raefe Akhbar, a bassist with allegedly close ties to the group, carried his weapon to the scene in a guitar case, according to police

The bass player who gunned down three other musicians in their Brooklyn crash pad carried the murder weapon in a guitar case.
It was found on a rooftop after 29-year-old Raefe Akhbar capped his deadly rampage by killing himself with a blast to the chin from the .308-caliber assault rifle, police said.
Two of the murdered musicians were brothers who were members of The Yellow Dogs, an indie band that fled repressive Iran only to land in a bloody Brooklyn nightmare.
Band manager Ali Salehezadeh said had to call Tehran and explain to the family of Soroush “Looloosh” Farazmand, 27, and Arash “Sina” Farazmand, 28, what happened to their sons.
Both had recently been granted political asylum in the U.S.
“People don’t own guns in Iran,” the manager said. “We don’t have this problem there. It doesn’t exist.”
Also killed was Ali Eskandarian, a 35-year-old musician who played with another band, police said.
A fourth man, 22-year-old Sasan Sadeghpourosko, was shot twice in his right arm and survived the massacre. He was listed in stable condition at Elmhurst Hospital.
