It is the same reason that drew Wisconsin nephrologist Atif Qureshi, his wife, Rabia, and their two sons to the desert city; driving up the Las Vegas Strip Sunday night. It’s a destination the couple considers one of their favorites to visit.

“I was just looking outside on the right when I saw something really fast passed my window, on the right hand side,” said Rabia Qureshi in a phone interview with FOX 11. “And it took me a second to register that it was a car.”

A fast moving scene that left Rabia Qureshi and her husband thinking that it was part of a movie; a family vacation that took an unexpected detour.

“It was like a bowling ball hitting pins. And people falling,” said Rabia. “I told Atif, ‘Just stop!’ and he hit the brakes.”

“I went into my doctor mode, so I wasn’t thinking about anything else, other than to help those people,” Dr. Atif Qureshi told FOX 11 sister station KSNV Sunday night.

“When I arrived there, I saw two people leaning over the victims and I announced that I am a doctor and started seeing the first person, and seeing who was conscious and who was not,” he said. “When something happens like that, something in front of you, you don’t think. You just do.”
